Floors are done!!!!

Okay so the floors have been done for a week or so now and all I can say is that the pictures do not do this floor justice. It is beautiful. I am so happy with the way everything has turned out. Of course, we still have a lot of work to do, but getting the floors laid was the biggest part.
We were so blessed to have Bonnie take the boys for a few days over Spring break so we could finish the floors.  Todd and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary a little early so it wouldn't interfere with school and everything.  This might not be what one would consider a fun anniversary, but I sure did enjoy getting to work with Todd.  We have so much fun together.  I told him my goal was to still be friends after we finished this project, and we still are!!  Isn't that wonderful.  We worked on this little section (which is not very little) of the hallway and living room for two full days.  On Monday, day one, we woke up and worked from 9am to 9pm and then went to dinner.  We thought we would play the next day and then decided that we would work on the floor for 4 hours and then go to the movies and shopping and stuff.  Well everything was going so well and the floor was laying really easily (don't know if that makes sense) but we had very little cuts to make and the grooves were going in really well.  So Todd and I decided to keep working.  We finally finished around 5.  We were so tired, but it was so great to be done.

This is our living room.  We know we need some rugs, but the floor looks great.
The family room.  We have all the furniture in now.

The kitchen.  There is still a huge project left in here obviously but hopefully the cabinet doors will be done here in the next couple of weeks.  We are also planning on painting and still have to put up the baseboards and lay wood on the stairs, so there are still a ton of projects left.  Wish us luck.  Hopefully our frienship will last for the entire project to be finished.

Beautiful hard woods! It's it great to do work with your own two hands and to feel that sense of accomplishment? Awesome Work! Glad you're still taking to your eternal companion! :)

Looks awesome Nikki. I might have to sneak into your house for some shoots just for those floors :) I know that was a ton of work, especially with your kiddos around!!
