Florida: Day 2; Kennedy Space Center and Beach

I think we spent Saturday at one of the Disney Waterparks.  We went to Typhoon Lagoon.  The water parks might have been my favorite part of disney world.  Both have some really cool features and we had so much fun.  The lines were not long and it seems that mostly foreigners were at the water parks.  I would totally recommend getting passes to the water parks.  They were so much fun.
Our first Sunday in Florida was great.  It was general conference Sunday and we were unable to watch it, but we decided that instead of going to a theme park, we would go to Kennedy Space Center.  I distinctly remember NASA when I went to Florida in high school so I was pretty excited to go back.  As a bonus for us, we were there when they were launching a rocket, so we were able to see that too.

It is hard to believe that three or more adults could fit in one of these pods.

This is the room where they do a simulation launch.  You can feel the windows shake and everything in the control room feels like a real shuttle launch.

This shuttle is huge.  There is no way to really describe it.

After NASA, we had some time to kill before the launch so we drove to Cocoa Beach.  The water was so warm and nice.  We weren't able to spend a lot of time there, but it was really pretty.  We made sure to go by Ron Jon's surf shop.  The store is huge, but the kids were wanting to buy everything so we had to leave very quickly.

Next was time for the rocket launch.  We waited on this strip of beach off the highway for about an hour and a half.  I know I haven't mentioned it yet, but the bugs in Florida are huge and we were getting eaten alive so we had to wait in the car.  We didn't really even know what area we should focus on for the launch but it didn't take us very long to find out.  This guy had a hamm radio so we were able to listen to the countdown.  Then it didn't take long for the sky to light up like daytime.  It was amazing and one of the coolest things I have ever seen.
