I was talking with my friend Lisha and she mentioned that I have never sent out pictures of our house since our renovations, so here it goes. Our house has changed quite drastically in the last few months. I posted a while ago about how we put in wood floors. Since then, we have hung drapes, found rugs, finished base boards and finished the kitchen. I love everything about it. It is amazing the difference it all makes.
This is the family room. I searched for months for a rug to go in this room and happened to find this on a fluke trip to the fabric store. Funny how that works. We bought some drapes from Ikea and I felt like they were just too dark in the room. I wanted to add stripes and Todd wasn't super excited about that. I did the first panel and loved it and told Todd that he didn't get a choice; we were going to have striped panels.I love my kitchen. It is so much more bright and does wonderful things to the rest of the house. I had book club at my house the night before these pictures were taken. That is why my house is so clean. I would love to say that it looks like this all of the time, but that would be a major lie. By 9:00 the morning I took these, my house looked very different.
I thought this picture was better when I took this, but it is a little far away and hard to see. But I found this cool frame at a yard sale and had the letters for about a year knowing that I wanted to spell out EAT in this area. I love how it all came together. It is one of my favorite crafts that I have done.
Todd just put up the beadboard around the island a few weeks ago. It is so much better than having it just painted.
This is my entryway. I found this cool rug on overstock. Looked at it for about 2 months then finally figured out it would work great in this space.
Half bath. We replaced the tile with marble, painted, baseboards and put some stuff on the wall. I love this bathroom. I am thinking that I need to do gray in more places in my house. I just love the color.
Had this mirror. It was just a wrought iron mirror I had in the guest room. I painted it yellow and love what it does in the bathroom.
This is our little memo information station right off of the garage. I have to say I am pretty bad about updating things. I haven't written anything in the calendar and the chalk board has our new years resolution goals on it still.
Last is this photo wall. We have huge blank walls in our house. They are really hard to fill. I saw this same exact photo wall on house of smiths and totally copied it. Thanks to my next door neighbor who photoshopped the pictures to fit in odd Ikea frames. I just love this wall and the pictures that Brittany took. They really make the space.
So all in all, we started our renovations in February by tearing out the existing tile and carpet, replacing it with engineered wood flooring. We painted the cabinets and added new hardware. We have replaced all the baseboards in the lower level (painted, caulked and filled holes), we painted the walls of the lower level. We still have a couple of big projects to do downstairs with the entertainment center and the stairs. Other than that, I have some decorating in the living room and the loft that I want to do and then I would say I am done, but I totally know I am not. The boys are getting bunk beds soon and I am already thinking about how I want to change their room... I guess it is a never ending thing.
