Catching Up: Summer Nelson Trip to San Diego

Every summer the Nelson side gets together for a vacation for a few days.  We mostly go to California but have been known to go up North to escape the heat.  This year we headed to California.  We were able to stay on Coronado Island on the military base again thanks to Kari's mom.  It was so nice.  We did get to experience the June gloom, but it really didn't bug us because we got to wear sweatshirts in June and didn't have to suffer through 110 degree weather.  We arrived on Sunday and spent our first full day (Monday) at Sea World.
The last time we were at Sea World the boys didn't get to see the Shamu show so we made that our first stop.  Jacob and Luke spotted Hunter sitting on the second row in the splash zone and were dying to sit with them, so they did and I found my way up top with Todd and Nathan.

This is the vicinity of where the boys were sitting.

After affects of sitting on the 2 row.  Needless to say, they did not want to sit in the splash zone for the rest of the day.  They really don't care about the shows either.  My boys are all about the rides.

Yes that is my little guy Nathan riding the Journey to Atlantis.  He loved it and rode it about five times in one day.

Can you spot Cerise.  We were at the Sea Lion show (with friends from Arizona that were visiting California at the same time) and Jim told me to look on the back wall which has a printout of the crowd from past shows.  He swore it was his wife in the picture and asked me to see if I could get closer on my camera since he just had his phone.  Well we are pretty sure the woman in the striped pink shirt is my sister in law, Cerise.  She thinks it was a time when she went with her older kids on a school trip to Sea World.

Our trip was a little harder this time around.  Nathan seemed to have a really hard time breathing with the gloomy, dirty weather and smog and he spent Monday night at urgent care with an ear infection and then headed back there on Tuesday with breathing problems.  Our beach day with the family was on Tuesday and while I watched Jacob and Luke play at the beach, Todd took Nathan to get medicine so he could breath.  Once we got the medicine, our boy did great, but they missed the entire beach day.  Wednesday we went back to Sea World for a few hours and then headed home.  Thanks mom for all the hard work and the fun vacation.  Can't wait to do it again next year.
