Every year the Nelson family plans a vacation where the entire group of us gets together for a few days. The tradition started with my dad and has continued since he passed away. Most of the time, we head to California and do the theme parks for a few days. That was the plan this year, but then some hotel booking problems changed those plans. We have gone up north a couple of times and have really enjoyed being able to stay in a place all together. There is such a stronger family feel and the kids have a great time playing while the adults can still get together and play games. This year, Jim, booked a cabin in Payson for the week of the 4th of July. This cabin was just perfect for our family. There was a ton of space and it was so nice to get out of the blazing heat and play for a few days.
Front view of the cabin. It housed 2 bedrooms and a kitchen with multiple living areas in the second story and 5 large bedrooms downstairs in the basement as well as another kitchen and living areas. Nobody complained about being cramped.

This is the view of the pond just off the front of the house. The kids enjoyed running around, trying to fish and flying kites.
Capture the flag. Adults and kids enjoyed playing this game. They probably played at least one game of capture the flag for everyday we were there. I just got to relax and watch.
We had a great fourth of July. The morning of the 4th, John organized a little hiking trip for anyone who wanted to go. I was the only one who stayed home and everyone said that was a great idea because the hike would have been too difficult for me. I just sat and read all morning. It was great. The afternoon was spent playing games and hanging out. After dinner, we headed to the town of Payson fireworks show. We happened to find Bub and Christina and sat in the grass and watched with them. This picture is of Luke and Brock. They are only a few months apart and when they do get together (when Luke isn't following around after Jacob), they have a fun time together.
Todd and I decided that Payson is a great place to go to celebrate the 4th. The weather that night was great (didn't even sweat while watching the fireworks). We have decided that we will not stay in the city anymore for the 4th. It is just a short drive to watch fireworks in a much cooler area.
We are so greatful to get to spend this time together. We had so much fun making tiedie shirts, going to the movies, eating, hanging out with the family and sharing memories of dad. I am greatful for the tradition he started and to be part of such a great family. We miss him dearly, but enjoy sharing our funny memories of him.
We are also greatful to live in this free country and for those who have fought and still fight for our freedom. We are truly blessed.
We look forward to this vacation every year and can't wait to get together again next summer.

That looked like such a fun week. Is it Payson Utah, where the cabin is? If so, I would love to get details on it. We have rented one at Bear Lake for the past several years, but that one looked really fun too, and is closer if it is in Utah.
It's Payson, AZ. Only about an hour and a half from us.
