First Day of School

School started on August 5th this year. I have to admit I was very excited to get these boys back in school. They just function so much better when they have really defined structure to their day. I don't think they were super excited to start school, but they didn't complain either.
Luke started first grade this year. He is super excited to learn more math and already after 3 weeks of school, his handwriting and reading has improved. His teacher this year is Mrs. Brink. She is new to Cortina this year but seems really organized and a good match for Luke.

Luke's favorite things right now are plentiful.
Color: red
Book: Harry Potter (we read the Scorcer's stone and Chamber of Secrets over the summer)
Movie: Any Harry Potter movie (we watch them on Sunday afternoons.)
Video Game: Minecraft
TV: doesn't watch tv, but loves to watch you tube videos of Zelda walkthroughs
Sport: basketball (he loves to go outside and shoot hoopes) and football (we just started another season of flag.
Friends: Sutton, Jacob A., Ellijah, Caden
He loves to walk to school and begs everyday to walk, but it is just too hot and I am too uncomfortable to walk to school right now. Maybe after Kate comes. He had two new friends move into the ward this year that are also in his grade at school. Everyone else in his primary class is a grade ahead of him because his birthday is in November. I am told (not by Luke) that they get together every day at reccess and play. It makes me happy that he is making friends his own age as he still loves to hang out with Jacob's friends.

Jacob started third grade this year. He was probably the least excited to start school. I am guessing because he will be required to do a lot of work. His teacher this year is Ms. Ortega. She is also new to Cortina but she loves math and so does Jacob so they should get a long great. I have learned that 3rd grade is definetly more work than 2nd. We have to dedicate time each day to make sure we get homework done. Jacob has become very responsible though and is good about getting it done as well as making sure he is ready for school each morning without too much hassle. We start school an hour earlier this year, but Jacob wakes up around 6:30 every morning so he has had no problem getting ready. Luke on the other hand takes about 20 minutes of coaxing and shaking to get out of bed every morning.

Here are some of Jacob's favorites:
color: blue
book: magic treehouse, Harry Potter
movie: Any of them. He will watch anything
TV: has really enjoyed watching the news. That is what he watches when he wakes up so early in the morning. If he is not watching the news, he will be playing his iPod, club penguin or watching zelda videos on the iPad.
Sport: Football
Video Game: Minecraft
Friends: Dallen, Miles, Sutton

Nathan began his first day of preschool a week after the boys started school. To say he was excited would be an understatement. He is attending Ms. Rosie's preschool again this year and was not one bit scared. I asked him if he was going to miss his brothers while they were at school and he very quickly replied no. We have a fun time reading books, playing with friends, doing playgroups and running errands together.

 Nathans Favorites:
Color: blue
Movie: Clifford the Big Red Dog
Book: Clifford books or Cars 2
Sport: he just started his first season of flag football. He totally knows what to do after watching his brothers for so long.
TV Show: He doesn't watch tv but he also enjoys watching Zelda videos on the iPad
Toys: loves beyblades still, he is really good at running around and just playing with his friends
Video Game: will play different ones on the Wii, but doesn't last a super long time. He will watch his brothers play minecraft, but he does not like to play it himself
Friends: Brady, Pacer, Coleman
