Day three in New York found us hanging out in Central Park. We walked around the park for a while and I can't remember what else we did in the morning. I think this might have been the day we lost Barb on the subway. She was just so kind to let people on and off in front of her and all of the sudden we were all off the train and she was still on it as it took off. Her face and probably ours were priceless. Lucky for us, she got off on the next stop and we were able to go back and pick her up.

Central park is very interesting because it is just so quiet and peaceful and it is litterally surrounded by the city. We wanted to rent bikes, but it was really expensive, so we just walked around and enjoyed the scenery.

Later on Monday night we headed to the US open. This is the entire reason my mom goes to New York in September so she was super excited. Todd and I found that the people at the open tended to be less friendly and more pushy than any place we had visited but we still had a great time. So we had tickets for the night session. The weather forecasters were predicting rain and so they moved the doubles match to another court and played the singles match on the main court. We were a little sad because that meant we would miss part of the singles match while we watched the doubles match. I guess I could say my mom was a little sad. I could have cared less. Anyway because the court for the doubles match with Venus and Sirena Williams, did not have assigned seats, we rushed over there and watched that first. The sisters did not play well and the match was over fairly quickly, but we had great seats.
Our real seats that we paid for, were not as good, so this is our view of the singles match. I can't remembered who played but it was a lot of fun. The weather forecasters in New York tend to be more correct than in Arizona because as soon as the singles match was over, the rain started to fall. So it was a good thing they moved the doubles match because it would have gotten rained out.
